Who exactly is 13 of Nazareth well we guess it depends upon who you ask...for this artist has been labeled everything from a godsend to a demonspawn (seriously, ask him to tell you the story) and that was only his first year as a full-time artist. Six years later, though some people still have difficulty pronouncing his moniker (I don't know either), he is widely pronounced as one of the most skilled writers in his generation.

Marquis' words have carried him into 3 nations across 2 continents, earned him multiple regional and national slam titles, and been featured on Music Choice Digital Cable Radio. He has also published 4 CD's and co-founded an award ceremony, now moving into its 4th year, to honor his contemporaries.

13 of Nazareth (Marquis) has done this while living head on with a neurological disorder (pun intended) and having seizures remains one of Marquis' primary motivations to pursue what he feels to be his reason for being. In fact, Marquis' dedication has pushed him out of emergency room beds with IVs and oxygen masks and straight onto stages where the world bares witness to his vulnerablity as a sign of strength.

"Speaking Up, Speaking Out", the story of Marquis' journey with epilepsy and "Fallout Shelter" a poem inspired by that journey were published on epilepsy.com. Marquis Mix is was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia and currently resides in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area.
