Same rules apply for the second and last round. The poet with the highest score takes home the next $100! In case of a tie in the last round, the previous round score will be added to determine the winner.

If less than ten poets: 2 rounds

Poets will have 3 minutes (10 second grace) to present an original poem. Over the time limit poems receive a .5 deduction for every 10 seconds. There will be no elimination round. Scores from both rounds will be calculated. The poet with the highest accumulated score takes home the next $100. In the case of a tie, poets will compete in another round to determine the winner.

Judges:

5 random judges are selected from the audience on the day of the slam. The judges must not be directly connected to any poets participating in the slam. Poets are judged on a scale of 0-10 using decimals to prevent the possibility of ties. The highest and the lowest scores are dropped. The highest possible score a poet can receive for one poem is a 30.
