Brooke Alexis Burks

Brooke Alexis Burks has taught high school English for the past ten years and has presented several professional development activities, motivational talks, and college readiness seminars for her colleagues, other teachers of English, and local teens. She is a teacher consultant with Sun Belt, a site of the National Writing Project. She devotes much of her time to her students and the Tuskegee Gospel Ensemble, a ministry at Tuskegee University.

Burks, who lives in Opelika, Alabama, graduated summa cum laude from Tuskegee University with a degree in Language Arts Secondary Education and received a masters degree in English Education from Auburn University. She is currently working on a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and will graduate in 2010.
